separating surface
The separating surface of the antibody (cpk) / antigen (sticks) complex describes the contact regions of the complex. Its shape and size are defined by the binding sites of both complex partners. The surface is colour-coded according to the distance between the two molecules. A separating surface depicts an easy way to compare the binding regions of two complex partners, as one can map physicochemical properties of both molecules onto the same separating surface.
